Are you familiar with Canadian history and the women who worked in high security, dangerous conditions making bombs in Toronto during WWII?  Our guest speaker, local historian and award winning author Barbara Dickson, is best known for her book, Bomb Girls:  Trading Aprons for Ammo,  which focuses on the General Engineering Company of Ontario (GECO) in Scarborough.  Over twenty one thousand employees  - 95% of whom were women - risked their lives daily and produced over a quarter billion rounds of ammunition in a dedicated effort to help win the war.  Ms. Dickson's book formed the basis for the CBC series The Bomb Girls and she herself is Chair, Bomb Girls Legacy Foundation.  Meet the author as she goes through first hand accounts, photographic evidence, technological records and other documentation to offer a rare account into this part of Canadian history.
