The Month of October-Our Lady of Fatima

Publié : Oct-01-2024

The apparitions at Fatima, which took place in 1917, are one of the most well-known Marian apparitions in Catholic history. The Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children – Lucia dos Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto – on six different occasions between May and October of that year. Mary shared prophetic messages with the children, urging them to pray the Rosary daily for peace in the world and the conversion of sinners.

The children were also given three secrets during the apparitions, including a vision of hell, a warning of the dangers of World War II, and a message about the persecution of the Church.

One of the most striking aspects of the Fatima apparitions was the "Miracle of the Sun," which occurred on October 13, 1917. Thousands of people gathered at the Cova da Iria, the site of the apparitions, witnessed the sun appearing to dance in the sky and change colors. This event was seen as a confirmation of the authenticity of the apparitions by many who were present.

The messages and prophecies of Fatima have had a lasting impact on the Catholic Church and believers around the world. The shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Portugal has become a major pilgrimage site, drawing millions of visitors each year seeking spiritual guidance and blessings. The events at Fatima continue to be a source of inspiration and devotion for Catholics, emphasizing the importance of prayer, repentance, and faith in God.
